Quick Answer: Playtomic does four separate jobs, so "alternative" depends which one you mean. For booking, MATCHi or your club's own system. For finding players, nothing replaces it at scale. For a level number, MATCHi or LTA. For your group's own history, a crew tracker.

Search "Playtomic alternative" and you get lists of apps that do not do what Playtomic does. That is not laziness — it is a real problem with the question. Playtomic is four products wearing one icon, and most people looking for an alternative only want to replace one of them.

So before the list: which of these four is actually annoying you?

1. Booking. You want a court at seven on Thursday.
2. Matchmaking. You want three other people at that court.
3. The level number. You want a rating you trust, or one that stops moving in ways you cannot explain.
4. History. You played sixty matches last year and the platform can tell you almost nothing interesting about them.

Each of those has a different answer, and only one of them is a booking app.

If you want to replace booking

This is the hardest one to replace, and the reason has nothing to do with software quality. A booking platform is only useful if your local courts are on it. Playtomic's homepage cites Forbes for 5,500 partner clubs across 52 countries, and in much of Spain, Italy and the Middle East that means the courts near you are simply on Playtomic.

MATCHi is the credible alternative in the UK and the Nordics, and it is broader: its site lists padel, tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis, pickleball, pop tennis and golf, under the line "We want to make racket sports more enjoyable, easier and more accessible". If your club is on both, this is a genuine choice rather than a compromise, and we compare the two directly in a dedicated piece.

Your club's own booking system is the most under-considered option. Plenty of clubs run their own software — often built on club platforms like SliceWin, which sells court booking with "zero commission" as part of its $109-per-month Club tier — and booking direct sometimes avoids platform fees entirely. Ask at the desk.

What will not replace it: any app in the rest of this article. Crew trackers, watch scorers and event generators do not hold court inventory and are not trying to.

If you want to replace matchmaking

Be honest with yourself here, because this is the job Playtomic is genuinely best at and the hardest to leave.

Filling a court with three strangers of roughly your standard requires two things almost nobody else has: a large local user base, and a level estimate that both sides trust enough to accept the match. Playtomic has both, and its scale is the moat. There is no small app that replaces it.

What can replace it is not an app at all. It is a standing group. Four people with a recurring booking never need matchmaking again — that is the whole point of organizing a weekly padel group, and it is why so many players' Playtomic use drops off a cliff once their Tuesday exists. You did not find a better matchmaker; you stopped needing one.

If your group is five or six and you keep needing a fourth, the practical alternative to matchmaking is a shortlist of reliable substitutes, which the fifth player problem covers properly.

If you want to replace the level number

This is the emotional one, and the most common reason people go looking.

First, know what you are actually replacing. Playtomic's help center article on its level system sets out the mechanism: an initial assessment you can complete only once, then automatic adjustment after each competitive match based on the result, the opponents' levels, your partner's level, and a hidden reliability score. Reliability is "set automatically by the system — neither you nor Playtomic Customer Care can adjust it manually", and it dampens your movement as you play more. It also lists exactly which scores count: a set needs a winner with 6 or 7 points, and "if neither has scored 7 points, there must be a 2-point difference (e.g., 6-4 is valid, 6-5 is not)".

That last detail explains a lot of confusion. Nothing was rigged; your 6-5 was not a valid set.

The alternatives, honestly:

• MATCHi's levels are a different animal entirely. Its help center states they "run from 1–10 for all sports and markets" (padel in Denmark uses 1–7) and that they are self-assessed — you choose a step from Newcomer to Professional. If your complaint is that an algorithm decides your level, this is the opposite of that. If your complaint is that levels are inaccurate, self-assessment is not the fix.
• LTA padel ratings in the UK come from a governing body rather than a booking platform, which matters if you want to enter sanctioned competition. LTA padel rating explained is the walkthrough.
• A crew-private rating solves a different complaint: the one where the number itself is the problem because it can be protected, farmed or ducked. See below.

If you want to replace history

This is where "alternative" stops meaning "a different booking app" and starts meaning "a different category".

Playtomic knows the matches you played through Playtomic. It does not know the Tuesday game you booked as a casual private reservation, because by design casual results change nothing — its help center states that in casual mode "the level of the players will NEVER be changed, even if the result is entered". It has no concept of your group as a unit, no head-to-head record between you and the friend you actually care about beating, no season, and no reason to have any of that.

The apps that do:

Padellog — "The padel app that settles it", per its own site, which asks the question the whole category is for: "Who's really the best in your group?" Player and pair leaderboards, head-to-head records, win rates, streaks, breakdowns by teammate, opponent and court side, a group chat with in-chat match proposals, plus club and global rankings. Its FAQ says core features cost nothing: "Padellog is free on iOS and Android. All core features — match logging, stats, leaderboards, and groups — cost nothing."

Padio — Spanish-first, built around friend leagues. Free plan with unlimited matches and up to three active leagues per its pricing page (its Google Play listing says one), Premium at US$5.99 monthly or US$34.99 yearly for unlimited leagues, advanced stats and no ads.

Ranked Padel — describes a rating plus XP tiers from Bronze to Champion and auto-detected rivalries, but its site still said "Ranked Padel is launching very soon" in July 2026. Not testable.

Rivals — ours, and the narrowest: one crew, four players, 2v2, one court, week after week. Free covers one crew of up to four players with nothing inside metered and no ads. The rating is crew-local and margin-aware and shows its work on every change, and the app keeps head-to-head records, belts, a records book and seasons that end in a ceremony. It logs courtside with no signal. It does not book courts, does not run tournaments, does not do club administration, and has no global rating — so it replaces exactly one of Playtomic's four jobs and none of the others. Most players who go looking for a Playtomic alternative end up keeping Playtomic and adding one thing. That is not failure — it is the shape of the market. Booking is a marketplace business with club integrations and a live calendar; memory is a database with a long attention span. One app doing both well would be a coincidence.

The two-app pattern is worth planning deliberately rather than drifting into: the booking app your club runs on, plus whichever second app covers the thing you actually missed.
